Midcoast Maine's the Inn at Ocean's Edge Opens for the Season

Lincolnville, ME (Vocus) May 19, 2009 -- The Four Diamond-rated Inn at Ocean's Edge (www.theinnatoceansedge.com) is open for the 2009 season, welcoming guests with an inviting array of activities, events and economy-friendly lodging specials.

Quietly nestled on the western shore of Penobscot Bay, The Inn at Ocean's Edge provides visitors the delightful Maine experience they seek. Composed of three Maine-cottage-style buildings, The Inn at Ocean's Edge is situated on 21-acres of breathtaking gardens, lawns and woods, with sweeping views of the pristine Penobscot Bay. Here, guests can enjoy catching a glimpse of the working lobster boats and fleet of traditional Windjammers, while taking in the stunning scenery surrounding the Inn.

Visitors to this quintessential coastal destination also enjoy the many activities in and around the property. A hike to the breathtaking views from Mount Battie in the Camden Hills or a bicycle ride on the ferry to Islesboro are perfect for afternoons of scenic exploration. A nearby Lincolnville winery is an idyllic place to experience the unique tastes of Maine.

"We're anticipating a robust season this year at the Inn," noted Jesse Henry, general manager. "We're especially enthusiastic about the array of daily activities and events we have planned for Inn guests, and our lodging packages were specially designed to help travel enthusiasts take the 'stay' out of 'stay-cation.'"

Elegant Accommodations

The luxurious rooms at The Inn at Ocean's Edge combine calming décor and modern comforts. The suites are the epitome of elegance and relaxation and include large fireplaces, Jacuzzi tubs, and private balconies. Two new luxury suites feature wet bars, fireplaces, Jacuzzi soaking tubs, bay views and walk-in closets.

The picturesque granite infinity pool follows the contours of the shoreline, and just a few steps away, the poolhouse stands ready for guests who want to unwind in this grand space emphasized by cathedral ceilings and disappearing glass doors. For those desiring a bit of TLC, the building houses a sauna and massage treatment rooms.

Divine Dining

The Inn at Ocean's Edge offers an onsite, oceanfront restaurant. The Edge offers a casual dining experience within the walls of a converted oceanfront house that lays situated away from the main buildings of the Inn. Natural wood beams grace the ceiling of its covered dining deck, and the outdoor cocktail terrace offers rugged charm among the local quarry stones used in its construction. This casual and comfortable setting contributes to its rich ambiance, but it is the ability of The Edge's Chef Bryan Dame to produce innovative, yet classic, dishes that entice neighbors and travelers from afar to return to The Edge. Both the Inn and the Edge are AAA 4-Diamond-rated and earn consistent praise for their relaxing resort experience, cuisine and coastal Maine ambiance.

Seasonal Packages

This year, The Inn at Ocean's Edge is offering several wallet-friendly lodging specials, including:

The Inn's redesigned "Super Spring Fever" package now features two nights' premium lodging in an ocean-view room, two gourmet breakfasts, and one dinner for two at The Edge. Available through June 19 excluding weekends, the Super Spring Fever package is $499 (excluding tax, beverage and gratuity).

The Inn's "Sail & Dine" package is an adventure not to be missed: magnificent schooners plying the bay by day, and starlit, oceanfront, gourmet dining by night. On Day Two, a seasonal to-go lunch is provided for a poolside picnic or to be enjoyed on a hike or drive. For all three days, a full gourmet breakfast and dinner for two at The Edge are included.
